Most people overthink the plan choice. The honest answer: pick whichever tier matches the level of automation you want today, and switch when something changes. ReservWise prorates either direction, so there's no penalty for guessing wrong.

Heads up: the live pricing page at reservwise.com/pricing is the canonical source for current tier names, prices, and feature lists. This article explains how to think about the choice. If a number conflicts, the pricing page wins.

The free tier — for kicking the tires

The free tier exists so you can build a real reserve plan without a credit card. You get manual income entry, the six-tier priority allocation system, the monthly reserve view, and basic reporting.

What you don't get: bank/Stripe sync, the AI Coach, the What If Simulator, and Lean Month Mode. You can run the discipline by hand and most of the value is still there — it's just more typing.

Use the free tier if: you want to test the methodology, your income is steady enough that automation isn't the win, or you're an early-stage solo operator with very few transactions per month.

The middle tier — for working operators

This is the plan most ReservWise customers end up on. The defining upgrade is connection: Plaid for bank accounts, Stripe for invoice income. Once income posts automatically, the reserve allocations happen without you babysitting them.

You also get the standard reporting suite, multi-account support, the surplus-allocation rule engine, and tax-bucket auto-fill on quarterly estimates.

Use the middle tier if: you have at least one bank or payment processor you'd rather not manually re-enter, you want the system to actually run on its own, or you bill clients through Stripe.

The top tier — for AI-augmented operators

The top tier is for people who want active intelligence on their cashflow, not just bookkeeping. It includes everything in the middle tier plus:

  • Daily Deep Dive — one full-context AI analysis of your cashflow per day, capped at 30 per month, run by a powerful model.
  • Always-on AI chat — a small, fast model running in the corner of the app for quick "should I draw from reserve this week?" questions.
  • AI Support — context-aware help inside the app instead of generic docs.
  • MCP read+write surface — power-user access to plug ReservWise into your own LLM workflows.

Use the top tier if: you actively use AI tools in your business and want one that knows your money, or you're an operator running enough revenue that one good "wait, draw less this week" call pays for the year.

The trial

Paid tiers come with a 7-day trial. No charge during the trial; cancel any time during it and you owe nothing. After the trial, the card on file gets billed for the cycle you chose (monthly or annual).

If you forget you signed up and we charge you within a week of the cycle starting, email support@reservwise.com — we'd rather refund a confused signup than fight you about it.

Monthly vs. annual

Annual billing is roughly 20% cheaper than paying month-to-month. If you're confident you'll use ReservWise for more than five months, annual pays for itself.

You can switch from monthly to annual at any time — the switch is prorated. See Updating your payment method for the mechanics.

Switching plans

Open Settings → Billing in the app and pick the new plan. Upgrades take effect immediately and we charge the prorated difference for the rest of the cycle. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current cycle so you keep what you paid for.

If a downgrade would lose access to a feature you're actively using (e.g., a connected bank account on the middle tier), the app will warn you and let you choose what to do with that data.
